The Nidderdale Greenway is now open from Bilton to Ripley.

The Dales Way is a long distance footpath of about eighty miles, running from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere.  A new Dales Way Link of sixteen miles has now been opened from Harrogate to Ilkley.

A bright sunny day greeted the 43 walkers who gathered at The Sun Pavilion in The Valley Gardens, Harrogate, to launch this new sixteen mile Link.
They had a gracious send-off by the mayor, Coun. Bill Hoult and were fortunate to have Colin Speakman, who opened the original Harrogate Dalesway in 1974, among the walkers.
All present enjoyed a great experience and the forbearance of the public service bus drivers enabled all to get home when they wished.
A brochure for the Link can be obtained at 1 each.

Harrogate Group's 75th anniversary walk.

To celebrate seventy five years of the Rambler's Association a
group of 19 walkers had a wonderful days hiking in Nidderdale. We enjoyed high quality open moorland walking, accessible as a consequence of the CROW Act opening up 'Access Land' in upper Nidderdale. After passing How Stean, good paths brought us to Middlesmoor where lunch was taken around the memorial seat to Joan Clack, one of our hard working former officers in the Harrogate Group. From Middlesmoor we descended to the valley of the Nidd, passing the house of our vice president, Janet Street Porter, on the return route.
