Spot the difference

No, it's not the cattle!
Peter Wells, our Nidderdale Footpath Officer, spotted that a bridge on the footpath from Coldbeck House to Tinker Lane was badly in need of repair. Peter, and another Ramblers member, had worked hard to get the footpaths in the local area improved and re-opened between 2008 and 2012 and was checking up on the current state of the paths. He reported the damage to the bridge to North Yorkshire County Council and has recently had a reply to give him the good news that the bridge has been repaired and now has gates at the end instead of the railed fence.

Outline planning application affecting right of way at Almsford Bank
At our recent committee meeting Harrogate Group of Ramblers discussed an outline planning application for 65 houses off Almsford Bank (18/00912/OUTMAJ).
We objected strongly to the application as building here would affect views from many public paths and roads, as well as affecting the right of way through the site. We objected because the existing bridleway is to be incorporated in the vehicular access road for the housing development. We objected to trees being removed and we objected to building houses in this special landscape. To see our full response go to public access.
